CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

 

 

We are accepting abstracts for both papers and posters related to our theme “A Step in the Right Direction”.  We are specifically looking for presentations that detail novel ideas or progressive behavior-based husbandry practices.  Submissions may fall under any of the following categories: training, enrichment, habitat enhancement or environmental design, medical care, or husbandry routines that detail new ideas contributing to daily care or husbandry programming.

 

Deadline for Abstract Submission: Extended to July 1, 2016. 

 

 

PAPER ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

 

Please direct any questions, and send abstracts and author bios as an attached document to Mindy.Babitz@bearcaregroup.org

 

 

1) Abstract and Author Bio MUST appear together on ONE page, saved as a single document.

2) MUST be written in Microsoft Word using Microsoft San Serif font in size 12.

3) Presentation title in CAPS.

4) First, and successive authors listed with name, facility name, facility location (city, state/province) and first author contact information (telephone, cell, email)

5) Abstract should be one paragraph that includes the following:

                a. Introduction of subject/problem/issue, 1-2 sentence(s)

                b. Hypothesis or proposed problem resolution, 1-2 sentence(s)

                c. Method or action plan used, 1-2 sentence(s)

                d. Results, 1-2 sentence(s)

                e. Conclusion, or other applications for findings, 1-2 sentence(s)

6) Include your Author Bio on the same page as your abstract, in Microsoft Word, MS San Serif font size 12

                a. Author name in CAPS

                b. one paragraph bio

 

 

If your abstract is accepted, you will receive an email with information about presentation length and prior submission of your presentation.  We will be asking all speakers to submit their presentation ahead of time (by September 16th) for loading onto the conference laptop.  All presentations must be fully compatible with Windows PC software.  If you use a MAC, you will be responsible for making your file PC compatible prior to submission.

If your poster abstract is accepted, you will receive an email with detailed instructions on size and format for the poster. You will also be asked to submit a PDF of your poster by September 5th.  The zoo will be printing out all posters so you do not have to travel with them this year!
