We are accepting abstracts for posters related to “Excellence in Bear Care”.  Submissions may fall under any of the following categories: overcoming obstacles in bear welfare, addressing regional bear-human conflict challenges and resolutions, and progressive behavior-based husbandry practices. Click on the link to the left for details on how to submit a poster abstract.


Applicants will be notified of the results of the review process for posters by September 20, 2018.

Successful applicants must confirm participation as poster presenter, by registering as a presenter for the 2018 ABC no later than, October 1st, 2018.


Deadline for abstract submission September 1st, 2018.

  • Do not use more than 2 to 3 fonts styles

  • Use fonts easy to read (Times New Roman, Garamond, and Arial)

  • Avoid jagged edges: left-justify text within text boxes or fully justify blocks of text

  • White space is important to increase visual appeal and readability

  • Avoid fuzzy images; makes sure graphics are high-resolution

  • Choose colors carefully and pay attention to contrast
