Beyond the Bear Necessities Virtual Conference 2022 Recordings

The Bear Care Group  “Advancing Bear Care 2022” virtual two-day conference.

In 2022 the conference theme was “Beyond the Bear Necessities: Assessing Welfare in Bears”!  The theme explored ideas and methodologies to assess and improve welfare for bears beyond current accreditation and regulatory standards. The program consisted of a series of speakers discussing topics including, but not limited to: bear enrichment, geriatric care, introductions and social groupings, focused  on conducting welfare assessments and utilizing the information to improve bear husbandry. The BCG was privileged to host a panel discussion with a team of international experts, which discussed how individuals and institutions can address care and welfare for bears living in suboptimal environments or facilities.
